Wyoming Mountains

There has been so much to be grateful for while living out here in the Big Horn Mountains. Someday I'll create a poem (I worked on one last night around our sizzling campfire). I wonder as I wander with my mouth open in awe as we take our side x side and explore the trails, always finding a river or stream Hank can take a swim in. So, I'll use a good old-fashioned bullet list and of course pictures to share with you about all I've been experiencing these miraculous days with Steve and Hank.

  • Fresh Mountain Air
  • Every night a great night's sleep  Zzzzzz
  • Blacktooth Mountain - to the far right of the pic covered in snow yet.
  • Green meadows where the deer and the antelope play

Our campfire last night

Lost in the clouds as a thundershower moves across the mountains.

Bear and Hank

  • Making new friends whom we are so grateful for!
  • Making memories!
  • Working, cleaning, having fun on the ranch
  • Watching wildlife in the yard
  • Summer wildflowers blooming everywhere
  • Mountain Birds
  • Bluebird-colored skies

Hank retrieving another stick

I'm thinking a Thrush lives in this huge, recycled nest. However, she/he medium sized bird doesn't stand still long enough for me to take a quality picture to look it up. I'm going to keep trying! There are definitely babies in there!

Lots of flowers,
and the daisies should be blooming any day giving me enough for bouquets!
Happy Weekend!

Lake De Smet, Wyoming

Lake DeSmet is a beautiful long lake in northern Wyoming. We fish here every time we get out here. This time was no different. We spent several hours with our poles in the water. Afterall, we had $250 invested into our out-of-state licenses.

A mind often wanders, particularly mine, to things like loons, red rocks, and perhaps UFOs. Observe those individual cloud formations in the sky.

Can you spot an "L", an "i", followed by a question mark? I found myself staring in wonder for longer than intended, as I was meant to be concentrating on the tip of my fishing rod.

A man, his wife's palm and a dog on guard. Hank can't figure out what happens to the loons when they disappear beneath the water. He'll stare in the same place, but they come up in a totally different spot. He gets fooled every time.

A little commotion and again my palm.

We caught one and kept it! Steve is demonstrating the size with his hands here. It's my fish! Although, I needed Steve to point out that my pole was wiggling.

I used a favorite herb and regular butter slices as you see in the above pic.

The meal was excellent, especially with the side of Broccoli Salad!
Looking forward to more fishing adventures!

One final, very important note:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RILEY!!

(Today is my son's birthday. :))
